St. Johns County — The national workforce shortage in the waste collection industry has really hit St. Johns County hard, so the county is opening up its second site for residents to drop off their yard waste.
You can now head to the Tillman Ridge Transfer Station at 3005 Allen Nease Rd. in Elkton on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The new site is on top of the first site the county opened at the Republic Services Facility at 445A Republic Dr. in St. Augustine. That site is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Both sites are for St. Johns County residents only, and that means commercial trucks or vehicles are not allowed.
The St. Johns County Solid Waste Division is working with Republic Services and Advanced Disposal to make sure yard debris collections are happening as quickly as possible.
